A Web Diagram of Relationships

As part of our Emily’s Backpack work, we had to create a web diagram to show the relationships between Emily and the people in her life. We also had to create for ourselves. You can observe the diagrams above. For Emily’s web, the people closest to her are her Grandma, Aunty, her friend Darren and her old friends from her previous school. Her Mom and Brother are the second closest. The Mom is too caught up in work to part of Emily’s life, and her brother is in another country. Her Dad is on the far end of the web. He’s a drunk and an overall irresponsible person. Her new friends are also on the outskirts. They’re cool, but Emily doesn’t know them that well yet. Mr. Kelly and the bullies are the farthest out. In Emily’s eyes. they’re absolutely despicable. That’s it for Emily’s, You can check out my web if you want. This Emily thing has been going on for while, but I feel as if we’re nearing the end. Overall, the journey has been sorta fun. Anyways, Bye Bye!!!

The Journey of Marriage Through Life

For the past week or so, we have been learning about the vocation of Marriage. Today, we interpreted the concept of Holy Matrimony as a cycle. The main idea of the cycle was a circle. I used a wreath to portray a circle. It felt like a good fit seeing that Christmas isn’t too far away. As a class, we created a cycle with eleven steps. You can check it out above. Because it is a cycle, it repeats, and it repeats forever. Most people in my class used a circle or an object similar to a circle when creating the cycle. Some people used the Earth. One of my friends used some very sketchy and cheesy images, which ended up looking like a meme. It was interesting to look at the non-circle cycles. I loved being able to observe and learn from the uniqueness of other people’s imaginations. Anyways, that’s it for the Marriage cycles. Bye!!!!!

A Group Tapa Cloth for Tongan Language Week

For Tongan Language Week, we split up into groups to create a group Tapa cloth. When we first started on Wednesday with 5 people, when our group had six. One of the group members had gone to Queenstown for a bit, so we weren’t working at maximum efficiency. It became even worse when another member went away as well. In the end, it worked out fine, but we did have to rush the project. My contribution is bottom middle. That’s pretty much it. 🙂

What I Think About Spiritual Formation in my School

Something interesting happened yesterday. Mrs Bullot came to our class to do an RE lesson. I don’t know the exact details of it, but apparently it’s a yearly thing. The main point of the lesson was something called spiritual formation. After a bit of learning, we made it to the last slide. We now had to make a DLO on what we, the students, think about spiritual formation. We had to do it on a slide deck, which I thought was weird, since it was just one thing, and we weren’t allowed to make more than one slide. I played with the page setup option for a bit before settling on a slide size that I was okay with. I had an idea in mind, and it wasn’t going to involve many words. As you can see, the main thing is a flower, illuminated by a shaft of light. A droplet of water is about to fall on the flower. On the flowers leaf, a bit of water is dripping down, forming a puddle on the ground, which is then being drank by ants. Basically, the flower is my spirit, the water is the holiness which is being provided to me by the school. The water overflowing and making a puddle on the ground is my holiness overflowing. The ants drinking are people who I share my holiness with. That’s pretty much it. After this we have to share it with Mrs Bullot, who will then share it with someone else.

What Heaven and Earth Look Like to Me

Heaven and Earth are the same yet different. For RE, each student had to create their own vision of what Heaven and Earth look like together. The main thing in this image is the tree. The tree is Heaven, which means the roots are Earth. The tree grows from the roots. On Earth, we pray and worship. We spread the word and grow, while staying together as one family in the Church. But just like the roots of the tree, our faith splits apart, creating differences. My Catholicism is just one of the many roots that branched out, but if you follow that root back to its beginning, it merges back with the other roots. The different versions of Christianity may have their different beliefs and celebrations, but the roots of those lie in one God. The Christianity we know today is like the roots under a great tree: They branch out but they come from one origin. These roots support and provide nutrients to a tree. Heaven is the goal we Christians strive to achieve. Through the strength and support we give with our roots, we allow heaven to grow. Someday, we will join our God in Heaven. The tree that comes from our determination is there for everyone to see.

And that’s all. Each student has a different version, and you can view theirs too. I hope you liked mine 🙂

Going Through Emily’s Messenger

For a couple weeks, we have been working on a project called Emily’s Backpack. It’s from Mitey so it’s all about mental health and other stuff like that. The situation is this: A girl named Emily has run away from home, sending her family and friends in downwards spiral of confusion and panic. Fortunately enough, we found a suspicious backpack in a cemetery (which was definitely not planted there by the teachers), which we then opened to find a variety of stuff, ranging from useless to vital pieces of information. There was a toothbrush and some clothes, which were completely useless to us. The only thing that mattered was a written letter by Emily,  which was probably written by a teacher. The contents of the letter revealed Emily’s name, an ignorant teacher named Mr Kelly and a friend named Darren. Also Burger King, Burger King was mentioned. From this information, we essentially profiled Emily, using our imaginations to fill the gaps in the letter. From what I think, the whole profiling thing was meant to relate to us as a person, which is where the mental health aspect comes in. We also started doing this daily diary thing, where we write down some worries that we have. To tell you the truth, after the first couple days, I just gave up on trying to make up worries to write down; So I started writing down whatever came up on my mind.  ” I loved that spaghetti last night” or “That new episode of JJK was hype”. As you can see, I just wrote whatever. The diary thing is nonexistent at this point. I guess people just got bored. After the first week, Mrs George had apparently found Emily’s phone. Now we were tasked with recreating the apps of the phone in google slides. The main focus was to basically come up with our own headcanon, using pictures and self-made dialogue. We used information from the initial letter and the profiling work after. I recreated Emily’s messenger, coming up with my own interpretation of Emily’s friends and family. All the names come from a random name generator I found online, because my imagination is not strong enough to come up with good names. It took a surprisingly long time complete, 2 or 3 weeks maybe. Once we had finished, we presented our masterpieces to the rest of the class. Each person had a different view to the story, resulting in a merge of unique ideas. But the most notable and entertaining part was – the funny. Some people, including myself, decided to spruce up our presentation with humor. Some people memed, others added funny dialogue. Then there was me who tried to add both. I don’t know if adults could find it funny, but my class sure did. It just goes to show that Gen-z is humor is truly peak. For the presentation, I just assumed Emily and her friends were just average Gen-z. I could’ve made all the dialogue Gen-z, but that would honestly be unintelligible for Mrs George.  Now that this whole presentation is done, you guys can experience it!

(The ending is rushed. I could’ve fleshed it out more, but I chose not because it had taken up so much time and now I have to catch up on a few things)

The Body of Christ

Jesus has a body. This body is the church, the church is the foundation of our faith. Jesus is the head of the body, while the rest is the church. Us. In RE, we were asked the question, What exactly is the Body of Christ? To show our answers, we had to fill in an outline of Jesus with words and pictures. The pictures in the image are my friends, and the words are what I think we do in the church. The Body of Christ. The church, in other words, is our community. We serve in this community. We pray and we love. Jesus is the head of that community, he guides us in the right direction. In the end we are the Body of Christ, one church and one community.
